What You'll Do in This Position
Perform diversified duties in support of maintaining hard copy medical files and associated electronic medical files and databases.Work from Medical department procedures,training, job knowledge and supervisory direction.
Maintain medical records for all individuals undergoing physical / health evaluations at Savannah River Site. This includes such tasks as:
- Filing test results, summaries, X-rays, blood chemistries, and related correspondence, forwarding records to physicians for chart review and mailing results to those having health examinations.
- Analyzing records for completion of content.
- Preparing records for indexing into the Electronic Document Workflow System (EDWS), performing quality assurance checks for legibility and importing the scanned image into EDWS.
- Consolidating employment reports and validating the hard copy medical records to insure that the individual employment status changes are reflected (i.e. active to termination or pensioner for all employment types).
Enter exam data into the electronic health record. Includes demographic and test results data such as EKG, medical history, physical exam, medical clearance for respiratory protection, audiometric, pulmonary, etc.
Enter physician exam findings. Handle releases of Health Information requests. Obtain medical data from outside agencies as required by site physicians, and copy and release health information within department policy as requested.
Schedule physical examinations. Process and mail exam notices to active employees and eligible retirees and receive phone calls from those desiring to schedule an exam. Follow-up with employees who are delinquent in scheduling their exams or those not keeping their appointments.
Perform receptionist duties: - Greet employees entering Medical and direct them to the proper service area.
- Oversee patient flow through Medical to minimize lost time
- Set up forms and charts for use in health examinations
- Set up examinations in the electronic health record and insure that all appropriate medical forms at the reception desk are maintained.
Utilize equipment such as computers, fax machines, microfiche reader/printer, copiers, and other office related equipment and supplies.
Type, receive, sort, file, and perform quality assurance checks in regards to a wide variety of health information to include confidential medical information.
Produce and type a variety of correspondences.
Receive, open, sort and distribute mail and information to proper person, place or file.
Establish and maintain files and logs and prepare reports.
Other duties as directed by manager.
Security Clearance Information
SRNS is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, criminal records, and employment history, and education verifications. Positions with SRNS may require applicants to obtain and maintain a DOE L or Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. Factors such as pre-employment background review results, dual citizenship status, and unpaid and/or unfiled taxes may impact your ability to obtain a security clearance. This list of factors is not exhaustive; pre-employment information and security clearance requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

Qualifications We Require
High School Diploma, GED, or other equivalent State Credential
Qualifications We Desire
Relevant experience (within the last three years) working with health information databases and medical records processes within a health care facility or physician’s office.
Ability to complete the core elements of the Medical training plan. Experience and practical working knowledge of EMRs.
An understanding of basic medical terminology is preferred.
