In this pivotal role, you will provide leadership and direction to ensure our team members are knowledgeable, compliant, and actively engaged in Environmental Health & Safety practices. As the EHS Manager, you’ll champion initiatives that prioritize safety, compliance, and teamwork to achieve our organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safety Leadership: Be a visible and active presence on the floor, collaborating with managers and teams to develop and implement safe work practices and policies.
  • Risk Mitigation: Lead investigations, identify root causes, and implement corrective measures to prevent incidents, ensuring a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Compliance Oversight: Ensure compliance with local, regional, and federal EHS regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA) by,conducting audits, and maintaining required documentation.
  • Training & Development: Design and deliver effective EHS training programs to empower employees with the knowledge and tools to stay safe.
  • Emergency Preparedness: Develop and lead emergency response systems, training, and drills to ensure readiness and effective action when needed.
  • Collaborative Partnership: Work closely with site leadership, corporate teams, and cross-functional partners to drive EHS initiatives and align with company goals.
  • Performance Monitoring: Analyze and report EHS data trends, compliance performance, and site metrics, driving corrective action plans in partnership with site management.
  • Environmental Stewardship: Plan and implement environmental compliance programs, manage permits, and champion sustainability initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in EHS or related Science field is required. A Master’s Degree in EHS or related Science field is preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in EHS function, preferably within a Manufacturing, Facilities Management, and/or Research Laboratory setting. This experience should include direct responsibility for EHS activities and interactions with Regulatory Agencies (inspections, official written response, arbitration, etc.)
  • Advanced degrees and certifications may count in lieu of years of service
  • Required 2 or more years of EHS leadership responsibility (organizational or direct reports). Preference is given to applicable EHS-related professional certifications (ASP, CSP, IHIT, CIH, CHMM, etc.)
  • Thorough understanding of EHS science, analytical and problem-solving skills, and strong communication skills (speaking and listening). Working knowledge of EHS regulations with a strong understanding of OSHA and EPA laws
  • Priority given to skills in Technical Writing, Negotiation, Conflict Resolution, and Training
  • Basic management skills, including formalized methodologies (goal setting, performance tracking, etc.)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, along with a solid business acumen
  • Experience with leadership positions and the ability to manage complex operations and projects
  • Proficiency in basic software programs (Windows, MS Office, etc.)
  • Works with minimal direct supervision, relying on experience, judgment, and understanding of regulatory requirements and management systems. Most decisions are made collaboratively with assigned site management teams (e.g., Plant, Supply Chain, etc.)
