Responsibilities - Electrical design including component selection, schematic capture, layout for custom hardware which will interface with existing Hardware In the Loop (HIL) components and test assets
- Hands-on design and validation of prototype hardware; maturing and optimizing the design by characterizing and debugging test boards
- Develop test and validation plans ensuring the hardware meet safety, reliability and performance requirements
- Modify, design and develop PCBA layouts to support new test equipment and racks
- Root cause and diagnose both design and manufacturing board issues
- Continually push technology to develop new hardware testing capabilities
- Design, implement and integrate hardware components and cables into existing and future test racks
- Collaborate with HIL devs to develop firmware for new HIL test components
- Assist in troubleshooting and debugging issues identified during HIL testing, working closely with hardware and software teams to resolve problems.
- Develop design documentation, ICD, schematics
Qualifications A degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in PCB design using Altium, Cadence, KiCad or Eagle
- Experience / understanding with harness sub-components, plastic-injection molding, rapid proto-harnessing sub-assembly, and form-board production assembly processes
- Experience with common embedded systems protocols and their HW implementation (e.g. SPI, I2C, Serial, CAN/CAN-FD, LIN, Automotive Ethernet).
- Broad knowledge of common analog and digital circuits, MCUs, sensors, signal conditioning, control theory and embedded software.
- Strong proficiency to develop and understand electrical schematics is required
- Strong proficiency in developing PCBs and power design
- Experience with using oscilloscope and basic probing tools for debugging purposes
- Experience with cable design, layout, sizing, relief, connector mating, builds
- Experience with designing, deploying and maintaining test systems
- Lab proficiency - hands-on knowledge of equipment and best practices
- Willingness to develop new technologies for future programs
- Ability to thrive under pressure and time constraints, apply creative and critically thinking to deliver exceptional results
- Able to lift 45lbs, working in a lab environment
Pay Disclosure Salary Range for California Based Applicants: $135,100 - $168,900 per year (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).
Benefits Summary: Rivian and Volkswagen Group Technologies provides robust medical/Rx, dental and vision insurance packages for full-time employees, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26. Coverage is effective on the first day of employment.
