Under the general direction of the Senior Oil and Gas Engineer (Supervisor), of the Data Management, Research, and Special Projects (DMRSP) Unit, of the California Geologic and Energy Management (CalGEM) Division, the Associate Oil and Gas Engineer is responsible for the collection, analysis, processing, evaluation, and presentation of surface and subsurface geospatial data related to oil and gas wells and production facilities for internal and public use. The incumbent will independently perform complex engineering analysis, including the technical evaluation of proposed oil and gas projects and well operations to determine possible hazards to life, health, property, the environment, and natural resources, prepare technical and legal directives; analyze data submitted by operators regarding the drilling, operation, maintenance, and abandonment of oil and gas wells and decommissioning of production infrastructure.

Working Conditions

This position is located in Sacramento and is eligible for a hybrid telework schedule. Employees must reside in California and be able to satisfactorily perform their essential work functions independently and remotely. The hybrid telework schedule will allow for up to three days of remote work per week depending on department needs.
