Position Overview
We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Underwriter. In this role, you will play a crucial part in the production underwriting, marketing, and processing of Accountants Professional Liability (APL) lines of business. You will also have the chance to mentor less experienced team members and contribute to special projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Underwrite and analyze new business and renewal submissions for our APL team.
- Collaborate with marketing initiatives to ensure effective communication of our products and services to retail and wholesale brokers.
- Develop and nurture relationships with existing brokers while establishing new connections in targeted territories to generate business opportunities.
- Actively participate in meetings with clients and brokers.
- Maintain a healthy submission pipeline to meet production and business mix objectives.
- Utilize market contacts to bring in business, gather and share market intelligence, and cross-sell our products.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree from an accredited university is required.
- A strong desire for continuous learning and self-development.
- Previous educational experience in insurance and IIA/CPCU designations are strongly preferred.
- A minimum of five years of underwriting experience with authority, particularly in professional liability lines.
- A genuine enthusiasm for exceeding customer expectations in every interaction.
- Proven ability to build productive relationships with professional liability specialist brokers in the Central U.S. market.
- Strong negotiation skills with a record of achieving favorable outcomes.
- Flexibility and adaptability to thrive in a changing environment.
- A strong focus on executing tasks effectively and delivering expected results consistently.
- Excellent analytical skills for gathering, manipulating, and interpreting information to underwrite accounts profitably.
- Proficient in computer programs such as Excel, Outlook, and Word.
- Willingness to travel approximately 20% of the time.
