The Community:
The City of Lincoln is a rapidly growing community with a population of 46,000+. It is located northeast of Sacramento, just minutes from I-80 and the Sierra Nevada foothills. The small-town atmosphere features affordable housing, nearby lakes, three local golf courses, and nearby hunting.
THE POSITION:
The purpose of this program is to augment full-time staffing in the City of Lincoln Firefighting program, but mostly the intent is to provide opportunity to develop the skills and abilities necessary for a candidate to gain employment in the fire services industry. The non-sworn Reserve Firefighter will gain the valuable work experience needed to obtain the California State Firefighter I certification. The City of Lincoln will benefit from producing well trained reservists who assist the department with the gained skills, knowledge and abilities. The Reserve Firefighter will receive on-going training.

Education, Experience, and Licenses/Certificates:
The most desirable candidate will possess the following: Completed Firefighter Academy or California Firefighter I Certification, hold a California SSV Certified EMT Professional Rescuer CPR Card, completion of California Driver Operator 1A and 1B, having a California Class C (Firefighter) Driver’s License with tank and air brake endorsements, and experience as a Lincoln Fire Department Volunteer.
$150 per month stipend

UNIFORM STANDARDS:
Each Reservist will be responsible to provide his/her own uniforms and station boots. All uniforms shall meet the City of Lincoln Uniform Guidelines.
SHIFT SELECTION PROCESS:
Reserves are assigned to a specific shift and station and may be rotated as needed. The candidate will be assigned to the specific shift and station for six months. At the end of the six months they will rotate to a different shift to allow the candidates the chance to gain more exposure to individuals with different skills and specialties in the fire service. The Reservist shall submit available days of work by the twentieth of the current month for the following month. If there are more than one reservist on each shift at a certain station, preference will be given to the reservist with the most time in the program. If two or more reserves have the same amount of time in the program, a rotating list will be followed to allow each reservist a fair opportunity to select their work day.
