Protective Services Specialist (California National Primate Research Center) (SCRTY GUARD) Job Summary Under the direction of the Protective Service Specialist Supervisor, maintain security and control access at the primary entrance to the California National Primate Research Center (CNPRC). Conduct random and specific routine foot and vehicle patrol throughout the Center. Secure buildings and properties to prevent unauthorized entry and access. Assist and support police staff in such matters as crowd control, traffic control and access control. Monitor CCTV equipment and report malfunctions. Provide general information and assistance to staff, visitors and official guests. Assist emergency medical personnel as needed during emergency response. Prepare various written reports.

Minimum Qualifications For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license, certification and/or educational degree if required of the position. - Valid CA driver's license required.
- No minimum educational requirement.
- Experience working in a security and/or crime prevention position.
- Experience patrolling property; monitoring surveillance equipment; inspecting buildings, equipment and access points; permitting authorized entry.
- Skills to communicate both orally and in written form; understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
- Customer service and communication skills to interact with individuals of varying cultural backgrounds, experiences and perspectives.
- Must be able to maintain a professional demeanor under stressful conditions
- Must be able to sustain a walking foot beat; must be able to sit and stand for long periods of time Preferred Qualifications
- Valid California Guard Card.
- Recent security experience.
- Experience using surveillance equipment.
- Experience with radio codes and use of a police radio.
- Experience or other qualifications that demonstrate decision making skills, interpersonal communication and conflict resolution skills.
- Skills to provide clear and concise information to public and staff when giving directions, explaining policies and procedures and persuading others to comply with requests. Interpersonal communication methods and techniques, including conflict resolution and general mediation techniques.
- Skills to work independently and follow through on assignments with minimal direction.
- Knowledge to understand and interpret complex policies, procedures and personnel guidelines and communicate that information to others. Knowledge of UC personnel policies, procedures, laws and requirements. Key Responsibilities

Located at the Davis Campus, The Protective Service Specialist is a member of the UC Davis Police Department Protective Service Unit which provides 24-hour, 7-days per week security services to the California National Primate Research Center in Davis.
