Job Description

An exciting opportunity has become available to be a Emergency Department Clinical Nurse Specialist for an exceptional and reputable hospital in the Portland Area. A qualified candidate must possess a CNS certification and have previous Emergency Services experience. 

This ED CNS will join a large health system that has been serving patients and communities for over 50 years. With the work of the outstanding staff creating a hospitable environment for patients and each other, this remarkable health system has been able to accomplish and keep at the mission of improving patient lives and health. This specific hospital offers both inpatient and outpatient services including Cancer Care, Cardiology, Dermatology, Home Health, neurology, and much more. 

The Emergency Department Clinical Nurse Specialist will be the clinical leader for the Emergency Department for the hospital. The ED CNS will have the advanced knowledge and skills required for this role including clinical expertise in a focus area, evidence-based practice, mentoring, consultation, collaboration, education, and transformational/change leadership that are essential to advance the practice of nursing and the professional development of nurses. 

The Emergency Department Clinical Nurse Specialist will have specialized knowledge and skills that will be used within three major areas of focus: patient direct care, nurses and nursing practice, and the organization and systems. The ED CNS will be accountable for collaborating with members of the health care team to design, implement, and measure safe, cost-effective, evidence-based care strategies.

The ED CNS will work closely with the Emergency Department Nurse Manager and work alongside very reputable and well-respected physicians in the department. The ER CNS will report to the VP of Patient Services and the Director of Emergency Services.
