Controls Technician:

Control technicians are electrical engineering professionals who specialize in machine automation and calibration. They may work with a variety of control systems, including those for buildings, processes, and material handling.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintenance, calibration, and repair of PLC control systems and related equipment:
    • Installation: Install, program, and test control systems and related equipment.
    • Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on PLC control systems and related equipment across the organization.
    • Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot PLC control systems and related equipment when they exceed or fall below specifications.
    • Monitoring: Monitor PLC control systems and related equipment to detect problems, and the need for repair and/or replacement when they exceed or fall below specifications.
    • Documentation: Write documentation, such as reports, work instructions, sketches, or data analyses.
    • Design: Create, read or redline existing programs.
    • Control Systems for energy management, fire safety, security, cameras, building access, environmental control, boilers, chillers, water and more.
    • control systems for chemical analysis, hazardous chemicals and detection systems.
    • Control systems for conveyors, sortation systems, scanners, cameras, labeling systems, scales and more.
    • Demonstrates technical aptitude with low voltage circuits.
    • Assist and supports maintenance staff with internal and external projects.
    • Ability to work under limited supervision.
    • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and an individual self-directed environment.
    • Ability to help train and develop shift maintenance staff on controls systems concepts and procedures.
    • Proficiency in utilizing laptop computers, multi-meters, and other calibration equipment.
    • Skill in using desktop business applications, including Excel, Word, Outlook, Allen-Bradley and supported software.
    • Ability to work hours other than regular schedule such as days, nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call.

REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Associate’s degree in electronic technology or related field or 5 years equivalent experience.
  • Ability to identify, maintain, troubleshoot, and modify PLC’s and PLC components.
  • Industrial electrical distribution systems with hands-on experience and troubleshooting, including 120/208/240vac 3-phase and 24 VDC systems.
  • Ability to identify, maintain, troubleshoot, and modify multiple Industrial Ethernet networks and VLANs including cabling, unmanaged and managed switches, and all other associated devices.
  • Ability to interpret and modify drawings both mechanical and electrical.
